If we cannot learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. Though it is quite clear understanding has increased and continues to do so exponentially, yet wars, cravings, and preventable illness likewise continue tremendously. This begs the question, what kind of understanding are we acquiring? Are we ever learning but never coming to the understanding of the Truth? The scenery changes as humanity travel through the ages, but the final location stays the same.
The previously mentioned is a commentary on humanity or the world. There is a continuous argument in some circles of society and ‘Christendom‘ regarding the ‘correct’ mix of church and state. Enthusiasms run high for some on both sides, to the point of being rancorous and even militaristic.I think the conversation for His Individuals is not about the Church’s participation in the state, but the state’s involvement in His Church.
When God called out individuals for Himself, He simply called them out to obey His Voice and He would be their God, to stroll in all the Way which He commands, that it would be well for them. Yet similar to Moses, Joshua, and the judges, a lot of solidified their hearts and could not enter His Rest. They appealed to Samuel, the prophet, to provide a king as the other countries. Samuel, damaged hearted, sobbed to the Lord. The Lord assured Samuel it was not him, but they have rejected Me to be their king. God cautioned them how a king would abuse and lead them astray. Still, they did not listen. The record reveals us the resulting mayhem and catastrophe that followed. Hosea states Ephraim mixes himself with the nations. He has become like a cake not turned, burnt on one side, doughy on the other. Not fitting in, constantly somewhere in between, vacillating back and forth. Elijah asks still today, the length of time will you be reluctant between two viewpoints? He still commands us today, Come out from among and be different.
He provides us numerous examples for instruction, however, let us look at the Perfect Example for a moment. He was in the world, the world was made by Him, and the world did unknown Him. In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. All things are by Him, through Him, and for Him. He did not insert Himself into the political or social machinations of man. Though All Power lives in Him, yet He yielded Himself as a Lamb caused massacre and when reviled, He did not respond in kind but was silent.
What have we set in motion due to the fact that ‘Christendom’ has enabled the state into the church so that under the name of ‘Christianity’ we are a few of the most singing political activists in so-called state affairs? To that degree, we make ‘Christianity’ a centerpiece of all manner of opposition. Not because of our Lord Jesus and His Great News, however because of the constant drumbeat of our political proclamations and activism. Many now associate us with specific political viewpoints rather than the easy objective unto which we are appointed. Have we fomented persecution upon ourselves in some nations and societies due to the fact that they now associate Christianity with so-called program modification and political upheaval? Does this sort of teaching originate from Him? Judge for yourselves or better, search the Scriptures.
We have no citizenship here because we seek a better country. Let us set our minds on things above, not on items here listed below. His Kingdom is not of this world.
